    Governors - About Us

    The Governors have a vital part to play in the life of our school. They are closely involved in many aspects of school life including finance, curriculum, personnel and building issues.

    All parents of children in school have the opportunity to take part in the election for the Parent Governors at the end of their four year term of office.

    At St Thomas, we are very fortunate to have a Governing Body who take a keen interest in the school, and whose support is vital for our future.

    ‘The Governors of St Thomas CE Primary School believe it is important that the Governing Board reflects the diversity of our school community. Diverse Boards promote inclusive school environments and provide diverse role models for our children and young people.

    Data is currently collected on the diversity of the Governors, which is used to inform our recruitment and training needs to ensure that there is always a diverse range of perspective around the table to support robust decision making. However, due to our relatively small Board of Governors we do not publish this data online as individual Governors could be identified and we have a legal obligation to protect their personal data.’

    Name of Governing Body: St Thomas’ CE Primary School

    The remit for the Governing Body is to:

    1. Ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
    2. Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the performance management of staff; and
    3. Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
